35 Weeks Pregnant – Size of a Honeydew Melon

35 Weeks Pregnant!

OMG, flirting with 9 months over the horizon. That means Baby Sandee is fully cooked and if she came out this week she’d be just fine! Obviously we don’t want that, and are hoping she hangs out for at least another month. According to all the phone apps, she is just turning into a bigger ball of fruit every week, thus the honeydew melon, but obviously these are just suggestions. She’s likely around 19 inches now and close to 6lbs, which sounds crazy to me. I definitely feel heavy and go nowhere without My belly band upsie, which is basically a belly bra. Even at home, because sometimes I forget and lean over to pick something up and just feel the heaviness.

TMI of the week: WOW. I thought I was going into early labor this week as I actually had timed Braxton-Hicks contractions (which at the time, you don’t know are “practice contractions”) for just over an hour. It freaked me out! Thank God winecoach was there to calm me down. I was completely taking back. She was moving more ridiculously than usual, and I was getting so much pain down under, as in my actual cervix, a burning pain that would come and go. In between baby would rotate her head (YES, I’m feeling all this) and feel her bottom swivel from side to side and her feet pressing against my side. I’m thinking, is she in pain? cause I’m very very uncomfortable. This was on monday morning at 5:50am! Right before I have to get up for work right…. of course. Every 15 minutes was a different wave of it, and then it went to 12 minutes, then 18 minutes, finally it skipped one, and the last one was quite tolerable. I stayed in bed a little longer waiting and it just quit. So I got up, and went to work.

Wow….. that was close (or so I thought), but I’m sure the worse, or “more interesting” is yet to come. Thankfully these were just practice contractions, and I’ve had them before – just way more erratic and not timeable in any way. My mom arrived this passed weekend, so I thought it was my body’s way of saying: “Mom is here, we’re good, time to birth this baby”, but really, I’m not ready yet body! Not gonna lie, I was a bit scared!

Old (New Symptom): And probably not related to pregnancy but definitely escalated by it. I had the WORSE COLD that started last week, and went strong into the weekend and into this week. This was similar to the plague I got during my beautiful trip to Singapore at 18 weeks pregnant, (well, after I got back). If you don’t remember, definitely check out both My Singapore Experience and the first time I peed myself (yes, lost bladder control) that week due to the most forceful cough I’ve ever experienced in my life. Well, it happened this week again, only once, but still….brought me back, that’s how bad the cold was. I had to go to urgent care to get seen and get some cough medicine, so slowly getting over that, plus using my cold & flu remedies, which also help!

BOMBSHELL of this week : We’re moving! I usually call this a highlight but it’s a major life event (as if this whole thing wasn’t, already!). Winecoach was transferred to another state, and has been commuting and traveling a ton. I’ve been home alone a lot, and  we finally got tired of it all, so I decided to join him and move despite being pretty late in the pregnancy game! This is happening this weekend, so there will be a lot more to share about that next week!

After much consideration of whether or not we should have the baby here in Oklahoma, or to our next destination, we decided it’d be best to go, wait for Baby Sandee to debut, take my maternity leave and see what happens next. I will be off of work a while focusing on her and us as a family. So yeah, we are moving to St. Louis :).
On a positive note, change is good. You can resist it or embrace it. I already passed the resistance phase due to many happenings, and now I’m ready to embrace it. Oklahoma has been so good to us. We’ve been here for 5+ years, but we are ready to follow God’s plan on the journey ahead.  I don’t know what’s next, all I know is there is a baby coming, ready or not!

Last day at our home for the past 5 years! We were quite happy here!

Exercise! Oh guys….I have not done a thing this week as far as exercising goes. The constant coughing, hacking and lack of sleep really has got me down. I’m hoping I’ll feel better next week because it’s been rough. Hopefully this is the last cold before our girl is here. Plus the new house has a very welcoming neighborhood for walking.

Cravings: No real cravings this week and I think it has to do with the cold I came down with. Better luck next week! Plus it’s Thanksgiving week, so, just time to eat!!

Aversions: No aversions! Thank God because Thanksgiving week!

Mood: Been doing pretty good on this department, I must say! I think having winecoach at home all week. Despite the little false labor we experienced, my anxiety level has been quite low, even though I had all reasons to be freaking out right now. I’m trying to stay calm and focus on the baby, get things ready for the move and for her to arrive. My mom being here also helps! It’s thanksgiving week, lots of be thankful for, so no time to be depressed or come down with baby blues!

I did feel some serious anxiety watching the movers pack up our things earlier this week. Its ALOT to take in, but overall I survived it!

Ultrasound and Baby’s Sex: Had what I think is my last ultrasound this week! She’s in position, with her head sitting low in my pelvis, booty sticking out most of the time on my left side and hands/arms on the right side! She moves ally and keeps her hands up to her face like a little boxer! Fun to watch.

Movement and Positioning: as I said above, and the movement gets so intense I really do feel like my left ribs are permanently bruised. Also, when I had those intense contractions she was definitely pushing down!
Weight gain: Gained 30lbs flat, up until now. From now on, baby gains about 1 oz a day, so I’ll be steadily seeing that on the scale, not that I care. She’s growing and getting stronger, and I’m feeling every bit of it!

Nursery and registry:  The nursery is ordered! It will arrive at the new house next week. I’m SO EXCITED to share it with you when it all comes together! I’m still receiving boxes everyday, some from you beautiful followers! Thank you SO MUCH to those of you who jumped on our registries with Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby (also all consolidated on The Bump). You are just wonderful, thank you for flooding Baby Sandee with love because that is what it translates to on this side and I’ll take it!

Names: Can’t wait to share it with you! We just have to wait until she’s born per the Dutch culture! I’m respecting it.

Midwife or OB: Love my midwife but obviously had to leave her. Somehow it all worked out since they stopped delivering at the previous hospital where I was supposed to deliver and she wouldn’t have had privileges to deliver my baby at the new hospital. I don’t know if you noticed but I had been coming to St. Louis often to meet with winecoach, but one of the times was to find a birthing hospital (other times to find a house). We ended up finding the perfect birthing center ran by midwives and I just can’t wait to tour it and share it with you next week!

Aches and pains: Did I mention practice contractions? Besides that, just the typical heaviness of carrying a 6lb baby plus all the other stuff in my uterus. Wow….we get heavy! Back and hips hurt but mostly wherever baby stretches to!

Currently Wearing: Whatever fits! This week I went back to the pre-preggo stretchy dresses. I can’t believe I fit into them! God bless stretchy clothes. Also inseparable from my belly band upsie, that keeps my belly up!

Sleep: Barely any this week. This cold has been horrid. Had to break into Baby Sandee’s present stash to retrieve a humidifier it was so bad!! Hardly helped but gotta try!

Traveling – Yep! Road trip to Missouri! We plan to do it in thirds: first day to Wichita, KS; second day to Kansas City, KS, and finally St. Louis Missouri – our final destination!

We start driving the day after Thanksgiving which is when I’m already at 36 weeeks! Stay tuned for exciting updates next week!

I want to thank my friends, family and even some of you beautiful followers, for all the help with the registry and gifts you’ve sent to Baby Sandee! I’m stitll taking suggestions on the best products and “gear” needed to kee a newborn alive and well, so please leave me your comments on anything else that is crucially necessary for baby’s arrival because I AM still clueless. A lot going on these last couple weeks for you!!! So exciting just get as much rest as possible. Omg!!! I got the same Braxton hicks contractions the other night! This is my second time around and still freaked out. I was like I didn’t feel this in my first pregnancy. All of a sudden I was having lower back pain, tightening or the stomach and cramp! They came and went lasting around over a minute and in 12-15 mins intervals. For over an hour this was going on. Once I took a hot shower they settled! I was excited because I wanna meet my little guy but same time nervous haha

Yes, my Bradley instructor said to do that, shower, eat, walk, try to sleep. If it goes away doing any of that it’s not real! But still crazy…. they will be more and more common now…. good luck to you!
